In December 2020, Spain's Union of Education Inspectors (USIE) proposed an Iberian collaboration project between the two unions to Portugal's Union of Education and Teaching Inspectors (SIEE);

24 February 2021

On 24 February 2021, a meeting was held between the SIEE Board, the President of the SIEE General Assembly and representatives of the Spanish Union of Education Inspectors (USIE) to explain the terms of the collaboration project;

October 2021

In October 2021, in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, a cooperation protocol was signed between Portugal's Union of Education and Teaching Inspectors (SIEE) and Spain's Union of Education Inspectors (USIE).

Taking into account the information requested by the USIE from the SIEE, in order to draw up a comparative analysis between the two unions, in particular the forms and conditions of work, and access to a career in Portugal, the SIEE decided, with the agreement of the USIE, to adapt and extend the survey to other European inspectors' unions;

1st April 2022

On 1st April 2022, in Fundão, Portugal, the European Trade Union Charter for Education Inspectors was signed, with SIEE (Portugal) and USIE (Spain) present and signing the document, the FDA (Union of Public Service Managers and Professionals - England), the Odborový zväz školstva a vedy, sekcia zamestnancov ŠŠI (Union of Education and Science Workers of Slovakia) and the SIEN (National Education Inspection Union of France).

28 and 30 September 2022

During the ‘XXII Encuentro Nacional de Inspectores de Educación’ (XXII National Meeting of Education Inspectors), organised by the Spanish Union of Education Inspectors, which took place between 28 and 30 September 2022 in the Canary Islands, the members of the unions that signed the European Trade Union Charter for Education Inspectors met and it was decided, at the suggestion of the SIEE, that the European Federation of Education Inspectors' Unions (FESIE) would be created, which should be registered in Portugal.

15th June 2024

After drawing up the statutes and overcoming some legal obstacles, the European Federation of Education Inspectors' Unions was finally created on 15th June 2024, in the city of Porto, in the SIEE and in the Union of Public and Social Workers of the North - STFPSN headquarters, with six founding unions: the SIEE, the STFPSN, both from Portugal, the USIE from Spain, the FDA from England and Wales (which joined the group that signed the European Charter) and the OZPŠaV from Slovakia.
