Activities Plan for 2025/2026

  1. Main objectives
    • To secure high quality employment criteria and career progression opportunities for education inspectors;
    • Ensure that the complexity and challenge of the job as an inspector is recognised by higher pay than leaders in education providers;
    • To contribute to the existence of a legal framework that ensures the recruitment of high quality inspectors.
  2. Specific Actions
    1. Meetings and Presentations
      • European Commission:
        • Liaise with representatives of the European Commission;
        • Schedule meetings with European Commission representatives responsible for education;
        • Prepare presentations demonstrating the importance of inspections in improving the education system.
      • European Parliament
      • Governments (of England and Wales):
        • Liaise with members of the European Parliament and Governments involved in setting educational policy;
        • Present comparative data and case studies on the positive impact of education inspections.
    2. Alliances and Partnerships
      • Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD):
        • Collaborate with the OECD to use its studies and recommendations to support proposals for improvement.
      • Permanent International Conference of General and National Education Inspectorates (SICI):
        • Actively participate in conferences and events to strengthen the support network and share best practices.
      • Other organisations
    3. Awareness-raising campaigns
      • Social networks and media:
        • Develop awareness-raising campaigns on the importance of education inspections.
      • Publications:
        • Publish articles in newspapers and educational magazines on the need for a high-demand profile for inspectors (and career conditions, progression, evaluation, work and remuneration compatible with this profile).
    4. Documentation and Proposals
      • Reports and studies:
        • Compile detailed reports on the impact of education inspections and the need for improvement.
      • Legislative proposals:
        • Draw up proposals for legislation (European directives, European regulations, and those that impact on the UK nation states) that reflect international best practices and guarantee demanding and fair conditions of entry, career, progression, evaluation and remuneration for education inspectors.
    5. Workshops and Seminars
      • European events:
        • Organise workshops and seminars at the European level to discuss and promote the importance of educational inspections.
      • Webinars:
        • Organise webinars to reach a wider audience and involve education professionals from different countries.
  3. Timeline
    • Short term (6 months):
      • Schedule meetings within the European Commission and the European Parliament and start awareness-raising campaigns;
      • Publish the first articles and reports.
    • Medium-term (1 year):
      • Organise workshops and webinars;
      • Establish alliances and partnerships.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Indicators of success:
      • Number of meetings and presentations held;
      • Commitment to awareness-raising campaigns;
      • Progress in implementing legislative proposals.
    • Periodic evaluations:
      • Review and adjust the action plan based on the results achieved and the feedback received.
